Hey! I'm Jessie.
I'm an agented writer, freelance editor, and past teaching assistant for Creative Writing 101, and I'm passionate about polishing your writing. Whether you're applying to your dream school or finally writing the story you've carried in your heart for years, I can't wait to come alongside you and cheer you on to world domination.

I hold a BFA and MFA in Creative Writing from Reinhardt University. During my time as a graduate student, I workshopped, edited, and beta-read countless chapters and manuscripts. I've also served as co-editor of The James Dickey Review, co-editor of Sanctuary Magazine, and editing intern for The Reinhardt Eagle.

My academic and creative publications have been featured in The Georgia Historical Quarterly, UReCA: The NCHC Journal of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity, The Blue Marble Review, Copia, Sanctuary Magazine, and various faith-based blogs.

1
Full Developmental Edit (Novel)
Congrats, you wrote a book! Now what?

First, we'll schedule a sixty-minute phone or Zoom call so I can learn about you, your goals for the story, and the heart behind your book. Then I'll read your entire manuscript, making in-line edits for issues including repetitive grammar and punctuation errors, clarity, P.O.V. shifts, "showing" vs. "telling," word choice, and sentence structure variation. I will also compose a thorough edit letter summarizing your novel's strengths and opportunities for improvement, especially in the areas of character development and plot. If you have any questions after reviewing my edits, I'm happy to provide clarification over email.

I'll read a portion of your manuscript, making in-line edits for issues including repetitive grammar and punctuation errors, clarity, P.O.V. shifts, "showing" vs. "telling," word choice, and sentence structure variation. I will also compose a thorough edit letter summarizing your strengths and opportunities for improvement, especially character development and plot. If you have any questions after reviewing my edits, I'm happy to provide clarification over email.

This option is great for writers who want to improve those oh-so-important first few chapters.
Please note that because I'm not reading the entire manuscript and will therefore not have access to the novel's full scope, the extent to which I can provide feedback on certain character choices or plot points may be limited.

For all plans, payment is due before I begin working on your project. I accept PayPal and Venmo. I ask that you select the "friends and family" option rather than the "goods and services" one--this keeps me from having to charge transaction fees.
